National Final Awards

Each year qualifying winners from each of the 16 regional SciFest STEM fairs are invited to compete in the SciFest National Final. Awards at the National Final include the opportunity to represent Ireland at international competitions and events in the United States, Hong Kong and Germany. The 2021 National Final will now take place virtually on Friday and Saturday, 26 and 27 November. Details of the specific awards that will be available at this year's National Final will be posted here in due course.

The SciFest 2020 National Final in Association with SFI took place virtually on a specially commissioned online platform from Thursday 19 November to Saturday 21 November. The following awards were presented at the 2020 National Final.

SciFest SFI STEM Champion 2020
Trophy and €3,000.
The winning student will represent Ireland at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in May 2021Sponsored by Science Foundation Ireland.

SciFest SFI Runner-up Award
Trophy and €1,500.
The winning student will represent Ireland at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in May 2021.Sponsored by Science Foundation Ireland.

SciFest Broadcom MASTERS International Award
Trophy and €500.
The winning student will represent Ireland and participate in the Broadcom MASTERS International programme in May 2021.Sponsored by Broadcom.

Berlin Long Night of Science Award
Trophy and an all-expenses-paid trip
for the winning students and their teacher to attend the Long Night of Science in Berlin in June 2021. Supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Boston Scientific Medical Devices Grand Award
Trophy and €500.
This award was available only to winners of the regional Boston Scientific Medical Devices Award. From these winning projects a panel of judges selected the projects to compete for the Grand Award at the National Final. Sponsored by Boston Scientific Galway.

Boston Scientific Medical Devices Grand Award Runner-up
Trophy and €75.
This award was available only to winners of the regional Boston Scientific Medical Devices Award. From these winning projects a panel of judges selected the projects to compete for the Runner-up Award at the National Final. Sponsored by Boston Scientific Galway.

Specsavers Making a Difference Grand Award
Trophy and €500.
This award was available only to winners of the regional Specsavers Making a Difference Award. From these winning projects a panel of judges selected the projects to compete for the Grand Award at the National Final. Sponsored by Specsavers.

ISTA Award
Trophy and €75. Sponsored by the Irish Science Teachers' Association.

SciFest Scientist of the Future Award
Trophy and €75.

Excellence in STEM Awards
Engraved plaques.

Teacher of Excellence Award
This award was presented to the teacher of the student/s who won the SciFest SFI STEM Champion 2020 title. The winning teacher received an engraved plaque/trophy and €500. Sponsored by Science Foundation Ireland.

SciFest STEM Outreach Award
Trophy and €300.
National finalists were invited to submit a short video of their project. These videos were posted to the web to be voted on by members of the public. The project receiving the highest number of votes received the award. Entry for this award was optional.
