National Final Awards

Each year qualifying winners from each of the 16 regional SciFest STEM fairs are invited to compete in the SciFest National Final. Awards at the National Final include the opportunity to represent Ireland at international competitions and events in the United States, Hong Kong and Germany. The 2021 National Final took place virtually on Friday and Saturday, 26 and 27 November 2021. Details of the specific awards presented at the 2021 National Final are posted below.

SciFest STEM Champion 2021
Trophy, €500 and an all-expenses-paid trip for the winning student/s to represent Ireland at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Atlanta, Georgia, in May 2022. In the event that Covid restrictions make attendance in Atlanta impossible the winning student will, at the discretion of SciFest, be offered an equivalent cash prize.

Trophy and €500

Broadcom MASTERS International Award
Engraved trophy and an all-expenses-paid trip for the winning student, accompanied by a parent/guardian, to participate in the Broadcom MASTERS International Programme, including a visit to the Regeneneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Atlanta, Georgia, in May 2022. Sponsored by Broadcom.

Berlin Long Night of Science Award
Trophy and an all-expenses-paid trip
for the winning students and their teacher to attend the Long Night of Science in Berlin on 2 July 2022. Supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Boston Scientific Medical Devices Grand Award
Trophy and €500.
This award was available only to winners of the regional Boston Scientific Medical Devices Award. From these winning projects a panel of judges selected the projects to compete for the Grand Award at the National Final. Sponsored by Boston Scientific Galway.

SciFest STEM Outreach Award

National finalists were invited to submit a short video of their project. These videos were posted to the web to be voted on by members of the public. The project receiving the highest number of votes received the award. Entry for this award was optional.

Teacher of Excellence Award
This award was presented to the teacher of the student who won the SciFest STEM Champion 2021 title. The winning teacher received an engraved trophy and will, Covid restrictions permitting, accompany the SciFest STEM Champion 2021 to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Atlanta, Georgia, in May 2022
