Welcome to the SciFest 2020 Virtual National Final in Association with Science Foundation Ireland

This year’s SciFest National Final took place on a specially designed online platform from Thursday 19 November to Saturday 21 November. We were delighted to be able to welcome not only students, teachers and parents to this inspiring showcase of young people’s research but also, for the first time, the general public.

The platform remains live providing an opportunity for those who are registered to view the finalists’ projects and the talks that were presented over the three days of this year's National Final programme - see link above.

About the SciFest 2020 National Final

In SciFest, second-level students showcase STEM projects at a series of one-day STEM fairs traditionally held locally in schools (SciFest@School) and regionally in 16 venues in the Institutes of Technology, TU Dublin, DCU and St Mary’s College, Derry (SciFest@College). This year SciFest@College took place online to a resounding success.

At the National Final qualifying award winners from the 16 regional SciFest@College STEM fairs compete for a range of valuable prizes including the opportunity to participate in a number of international STEM events. The National Final will also include special competitions for selected winners of the Boston Scientific Medical Devices Award and of the Specsavers Making a Difference Award at the regional fairs. The winner(s) of the SciFest National Final 2020 will receive a trophy and €3,000, and will go on to represent Ireland at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2021 in the United States.
