Regeneron Announce Gold Sponsorship of the 17th Annual SciFest STEM Fair

Regeneron to Sponsor Life Sciences Award at SciFest@College 2022

April 2022

SciFest is excited to announce that Regeneron has joined SciFest’s growing sponsor community and will be sponsoring the Regeneron Life Sciences Award at the 16 regional SciFest@College STEM fairs this year. The Regeneron Life Sciences Award will be presented to the students whose project best demonstrates a passion for using science for good, an exceptional understanding of life sciences concepts, perseverance and flexibility.

Founded and led for nearly 35 years by physician-scientists, Regeneron is a leading science and technology company that invents life-transforming medicines for people with serious diseases. Regeneron’s Irish operations include offices in Dublin and a state-of-the-art biologics production facility in Limerick.

Speaking about the partnership, SciFest’s Founder and CEO, Sheila Porter said; “We are delighted to have Regeneron join us as a gold sponsor supporting our mission to ensure equity in STEM education. Encouraging all young peoples to embrace STEM learning experiences, such as SciFest, outside the classroom is vitally important as it enables them to work together to identify challenges, research possible options and present solutions to real-world problems. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Regeneron for their generous sponsorship and we look forward to working with them in the future”.

Niall O’Leary, Senior Vice President, Industrial Operations and Product Supply at Regeneron said, “At Regeneron, we believe that science and technology have the potential to solve the world’s greatest challenges, from climate control to pollution, clean water, hunger and disease. We are committed to helping engage and inspire the next generation of scientific innovators and we are excited to join SciFest in creating opportunities that encourage children to excel in STEM.”

Regeneron are already synonymous with supporting STEM education globally, as title sponsors of The Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in the USA, which SciFest National Final winners represent Ireland in every year. This May, The SciFest STEM Champion 2021, Clare Reidy, a sixth year from Our Lady’s Bower in Athlone, will be travelling to Regeneron ISEF in Atlanta, Georgia. Clare’s innovative project explores Cosmic Radiation Protection, specifically investigating effective building materials for future exploration of Mars.

SciFest is free to enter and open to everyone across the island of Ireland, no matter their background or circumstances. The aim of SciFest is to help every student across the country, develop research, problem solving, critical thinking, and presentation skills while fostering an interest in STEM fields.
