New Project Partner-Specsavers

Specsavers Joins SciFest as a Project Partner

SciFest is delighted to announce that Specsavers has joined Science Foundation Ireland, Boston Scientific and Intel Ireland as a SciFest project partner.

SciFest@College 2019 Specsavers Making a Difference Award

To celebrate the partnership a new award the ‘Specsavers Making a Difference Award’ will be presented at each of the 16 regional SciFest@College 2019 venues.

The award will be presented to the project at each regional venue that best demonstrates how the results of the project could make a difference to the day-to-day lives of an individual or group of people.

SciFest National Final 2019 Specsavers Making a Difference Grand Award

The best of the winners of the Specsavers Making a Difference Award at the regional fairs will participate in the National Final. Following the completion of the regional SciFest@College 2019 STEM fairs the winners of the award will be invited to submit their project report books to SciFest CLG. A panel of judges appointed by Specsavers and SciFest will assess the projects, based on the report books, and select the projects to go forward to compete for the Specsavers Making a Difference Grand Award at the National Final 2019.

Speaking at the launch of SciFest 2019 Andrea Barrow, Emerging Talent Manager from Specsavers said, “Specsavers is delighted to be partnering with SciFest in their mission to encourage an interest in science, technology, engineering and maths for all second-level students across the country. SciFest is an incredible programme that encourages students’ passion for science. This year we’re excited to announce our new category, The Specsavers Making a Difference Award, which encourages students to think about a project that will made a difference to someone’s day to day life. We wish all the entrants the best of luck and look forward to seeing their projects.”
