SciFest@TCPID 2019

SciFest@TCPID 2019 (Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities)

The third annual SciFest@TCPID took place last Wednesday afternoon in the Science Gallery International in Trinity College Dublin. SciFest@TCPID is a collaboration between SciFest, Abbott and the School of Education, TCD. The event was attended by a number of previous students, parents and family of this year’s students, staff of the School of Education and representatives of some of the organisations which support the course.

Ten projects were on display. It was obvious that the students had put a lot of work and effort into their projects. For more than five weeks they had worked with, and been encouraged by, a number of passionate STEM mentors from Abbott (Liffey Valley & Cherrywood campuses). Congratulations to Ciara Hayes from Abbott who managed the mentorship programme.

For SciFest it was a fitting way to celebrate the end of the academic year. The students were amazing, and it would be difficult not to be inspired by their enthusiasm. I would like to congratulate the students on their projects and wish them well for the future. I would also like to thank Marie Devitt, Pathways Coordinator, TCPID and Daragh Fallon CSR & Communications Manager, Abbott.
